  I read a fiction book called The tree hut treaty .

I read 10 pages. The main character is Jack, Tia, Manaia Crystal .

In the beginning   Tia and Manaia looked up as a truck rumbled past their house. They heard it stop and sing beep beep beep as it backed into the driveway next door. They were new neighbours they peeked through the fence beside the pohutukawa tree. Some men jumped out of the truck and swung open the big back doors. They lifted out lost of heavy furniture.

I like this book because of the pictures.

SSR Selfie

 I read a fiction book called shitfing views.

I read 12 pages. The main character is the drone.

In the story it explains how a drone works and the pieces of the drone it also explaines how 

you power it.

Steps Web

 Today I did Steps web the activity was word search.  I had to find the words and highlight them.

                                                                           

Second I did sentence builder were heaps heaps of words are spread out and you have to make a sentence out of the words.

I enjoyed this activity because some times i learn new words and it helps me spell new words as well.

 I read a School Journal May 2016

It is about  Fact, Poems,Articles, Stories.

I enjoyed the storie about maui because it helps me learn more maori words in it and about fish.

Madlilbs

My group and I did an activity called madlilbs. we have to write down a name, Friends name, City and Monster.

First we worte down a name that was Jack. 

Secnond we had to write down a friends that was Matt.

Third we had to write a city the city was New York.

Last we had to write down a monster the monster was a vampire.

My group used those things and name's  to make a story. 

There was a haunted house in New York. "It is very scary," said Jack and Matt replied, "Yes, I am very scared." They both went through the black, creaky  gates open as they walked to the house they saw a Vampire lurking in the dark. They both screamed very loud saying, "Ahhhh! Its a Vampire!" And they both got torn to shreds but the vampire ran away because Jack’s t-shirt was cyan.Vampire hate light colour.

Steps web

Today I did some Steps 

The first activity I did was sentence builder in this activity you have to put the right words to make a sentence.

Typing

 I completed a typing activity. 

This activity was about learning to look at the screen and type more often.

First I went on Dance Mat Typing level 3 and put a 15 minute timer.

Then I placed my fingers on fkl; ui.

To finish up I put the finished reults on a google slide.

SSR

Today I read Ice bregs By Jane Elliott.

In the story ice bergs are comprised of fresh water the trem ice berg originates from the dutch.

I enjoyed the book about Icebergs because if has fun facts about ice bergs.

 

Persuasive Speech Plan

I Did Persuasive Speech Plan 

First I had to my topic my topic was bullying my argument was  People shouldn't bully other people.

I then had to write down some ideas  for an example. I needed to write some facts about bullying and put the link where I got it from.

Next I wrote one of the reasons why we should stop bullying.   

Lastly, I wrote my last reason why we should stop bullying.   

I learned a lot about the Persuasive Speech Plan.   

Brainstorming

 I did brainstorming ideas. 

First I had to write some ideas about different things.   For example three different texts about self and other stuff like that.

Second We had to highlight the ideas  Red means that you don't know much about, Yellow means that you are not sure, Green means that you are sure. 

Last I changed my fonts to make it pretty.  

I learned a lot about brainstorming.  

 

Toy Tech

The creative masters looked at every part of the party popper and saw what parts needed to be changed. We experienced the party popper to see what parts work.

In the beginning, we changed the cup, the filling and the outside look. We changed the parts except for the stopper, the weight, the hole on the bottom of the cup and the elastic band.

Afterwards we thought about what our design would be for the cup.

To finish up we changed some parts because they didn't work well but that's ok .

I enjoyed doing this activity because it help me learn about party poppers.

Balance

 Today I used frisbee equipment to help me with my balance.

First I got into pairs then I used the frisbee to throw to my partner.

Next I  acted like a dog and also use the frisbee technique to balance while runing and jumping to catch the frisbee.

Lastly I played ultimate frisbee in groups. I had to use the same technique to play ultimate frisbee.

I like the the sport that I played today it help me with my balance. 

Where things are in maori

We learnt about words. 

We first went with whaea Odie to learn matoa and maui. Maui means left and matau means right. 

 For example Kea hea te aporo Kei roto i te peke. This means where is the apple? Is it  inside the bag.

It is important to PE because you need to respect the teacher and you need to have confidence and attitude.

Main Ideas

The book is about why animals migrate. Animals migrate because to find food or house's and some animals need to breed so they to move to a warm place.

Hook

First Mr Ogilvie showed us a video explaining what an introduction contains.

Next, we wrote an introduction and a hook about three different topics. Did you know that the largest firework display ever consisted of 810, 904 fireworks? A firework consists of gunpowder a fuse and potassium nitrate. When these three mechanisms come together they create a colorful explosion in the air.

Then we wrote an introduction about the life cycle of a butterfly. Did you know that there are almost 20,000 butterfly species? The mother butterfly lays eggs and they turn into caterpillars and makes a crysalys and then turns into a butterfly. it takes 9-14 days for a caterpillar to turn into a butterfly.

Then we had to write a introduction about how chocolate is made. Did you know that chocolate is made by cocoa powder? Firstly dried cocoa beans will be roasted, then heated and blended with food coloring sugar and flavouring, When the chocolate is made they will wrap it in paper.

Next time I write an introduction I should to try to add more information about butterfluys, chocolate, fireworks.

3 Simple Machines

 Did you know that there are 3 simple machines that help move heavy objects, which are pulley, screw, Wheel and axle.

Balance

Today I did sport called balance.

First I had to try and catch the basketball while balanceing on on leg without falling down. It was really hard to balance on one leg because the wind was blowing me then I started to wiggle.

Second I did hocky I had to also balance on one leg but it was diffrent I had a stick and a ball. It was realy esay to do because the stick was helping me balance i liltle bit.

Third Netball for netball I had to though it to my partnar from my chest to my partnar chest but balancing.

This was hard because my balanceing was not straight enough when my partnar thoughed the ball at me.

Fourth I did firsbee for the firsbee I had to though it to my partnar but on the side it was hard because my 

though is bad it kept on going on the worng direction

Fifth rugby I had to though it to my partnar again and on my side and though it was complicating because when I though it my partnar was scared.

This was hard because my balanceing is bad. The hardest equipment that I used was the firsbee.

 

Explain That Idom

   A idom is a phrase that are the same and the meaning are not the same.

Calendars

 Calaendars show us the day, week or month.

There are 12 months in the year, they are;  January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August September, October, November, December..

Month have 28, 30 or 31 days

There are numbers patterns on a calendar by looking for four connecting days for exaple 20, 60, 100

Knowing before and after numbers sequence and 7 timestables helps us reading a calendars 

Keywords

 Keywords are words that can help tell important information.

Simple Machines

 These are the 6 simple machines to help people we found in our school.

Lever, Screw, Wedge, Wheel and axel, Inclined plane.

Perpostions

I learnt about prepostions.

The prepostions I used was in front of me that was tenei. The next preposition I used was infornt of me from me that was tena. The last prepostions I was used a distance away from me that was tera. 

This was hard because it took me a long time. 

Analog Time

 Analog Clocks are piece of technology that help tell time.

A clock has 3 mechanisms The second hand moves around the clock the fastest. The Minute hand is the longest and moves when the second completes 1 full rotation. A full rotation of the minute hand is 1 hour. The hour hand moves the slowest and moves between the big numbers.

An Analog clocks requires you to look outside to know if it is morning or afternoon. 

Simple Machine

A simple machine is a tool that can help move a heavy object.

The simple machines are;

3.  Scwer
4.  Inclined plane
5. Wheel Axel

Making Connection

There are three connections when your reading they can help more about the topic,

The text to self means making a connection that happend inside of the book or something simaler that happend in real life, an example; The duck tricked the rat into the cave,my connection is when I the duck retured the food to the villagers. I give my sister my food because she was complaining as I was eating so I give my siter some food.

An example of a text to text; The duck tells the rat she has a sister in a cave the duck was trying to aviod being eaten this is like the lilttle girl in red riding hood she was trying to avoid getting eaten by the wolf.

Text to word is somthing that happend in the story  that could happend that could also happend happend in the real world  for example; the duck gave some horese some water because she felt sad for the duck I saw a man give some water to a poor man in the streers and the poor man looked happy these connect because the duck gave gave some water to the horse and the man did that but to the poor man.

These three conntections help understand the text.

Teamwork

Teamwork is a term to describe a group of people working together to achieve a goal.

Teamwork consists of three main mechanisms. 

Communication is were you talk to people.  For example in dodgeball you need to communicate to your team mates who to target.

Cooperation is being a succesful team by working together at all the time to win a goal, for example dodgeball your teamates could hand you a ball to hit the other person on the other team.

Collabration is working together to be susccessful or finish something.An example when player in a dodgeball game your team collabrate and work together in a game to win togther. 

To be successful as a team all three mechanisms need to be implemented throyghout.

About Marcc

Marcc is a role mode.

He had been in prision for a few year's then he got out of prision with his school certificate.

Then he got a job, he did boxing, then diploma in a business.

He worked for Bunnings fitting out their stores. Now he is a manager of the largest store in Hamilton.

Last he went back to university to beccome a counsellor. 

Multiplication

Multipcation is a fast way of puting large unknown numbers in to gruops. The two, five and ten times tables are exmples of multipcation.

The two time tables are multiplying two by a number of gruops.

The five time table are multiplying five by a number of groups.

The ten time table are multiplying ten by a number of group.

The times tables are an easy way of remembering basic multipcation equations. The next times tables to learn are the there, four, and six, times tables.

Character Trait

Character Trait is a describing the actions of a character using adjectives. In the story the Highway Raty there are 3 characters that can be inferred about.

The duck is in a story called the highway rat, she is a intelligent duck. she is a cleaver,smart,intallagent because she helps people and she also helps her friends and family.

Inferring is a startegy to show an understanding about how or why characters to do things

Americas Cup

 LI: To use our reading strategies and smart searching skills to find out about the America's Cup.

Today, LS2 and LS1 worked together to complete a research and comprehension task. The information we found out was around the history of the America’s Cup yacht race.

We started the task by discussing what we already know about the America’s Cup in our groups. Each group had a mix of LS2 and LS1 students. We wrote down what we already knew in bullet-point notes using pieces of paper. Then as a class, we read an article giving helpful information about the America’s Cup. We continued to write notes on what pieces of information we didn’t know.

After this, we used our notes and wrote down 20 keywords relating to the America’s Cup. We used our notes to find these keywords. We then chose 6 of the most important keywords from the list. Using those 6 keywords, we wrote a paragraph summary giving detailed information about the events and history on the America’s Cup yacht races.

We really enjoyed this activity because it allowed us to learn more about a new topic and we

were able to practice sharing our prior knowledge as well as making and using our notes.

Fact or Opinion

First I listed to the story about the highway rat. Fact is some think you already know.Opinion is what you think it looks like. 

After I found  some facts about the highway rat I did the same thing  but in a google doc and did some fact and opinion.

It was hard to do because it took me a long time to do.

 

Multipcation

I did a group task to learn how multiplication works. 

First my group and I got some unknown counters in a cup. 

Then I got the counters out of the cup and put them into groups of 2, 5, or 11. Multiplication Is a faster way of putting numbers into group.

After that I work on doing the pictures and the numbers.

I enjoyed doing multiplication because it helped me see how groups of numbers work. It showed me a fast way to add the same number. 

The Highway Rat

  Visualisation  is creating pictures in your head. This helps understated what we read.

Highway rats is about a rat who is greedy and steals everyone's food. He learns a lesson and everyone lives happily.

My is visualisation different to others because we did't draw the same.

We have different  visualisation because we all think differently.  

   

Place Value

Place Valve is a system that groups number based on their size.

The position of a digit determiners its valve. When we say numbers we group them within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousand, seven hundred and nine ones.    

 

Understanding our base 10 place valve system allows us to pronounce big number properly. It also allows us to identify numbers before and after. 

Symphony Maths

 Today I did Symphony Math's. I did stage 3.2.6 it was easy but I got some errors .

I need to practice my addition so I don't make silly errors.

I enjoyed Symphony math because the questions are explained so I can try and understand what I need to do.

Mihi Whakatau

 Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

 Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming introduction and openings.

It is undertaken by the Tangata Whenua the Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects

to the place. The maunga (mountain), Awa (river) and Iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name), oku tipuna (ancestral place) and where live is important for audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Manuhiri is the term to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

It is important to end with a warm welcome so they know that its no hostility in the 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit ensure long lasting relationship and connection.

 

AFL Skills

I learnt some new skills with Coach Mike. 

First, Coach Mike taught us a skill and it was called, Hand ball. Hand ball is using my dominant hand for a fist and my non-dominant hand for a dinner plate.

Lastly, we played two games called Octopus and hit  the teacher. Octopus is getting to one side, to the other without getting tagged with the rugby ball. Bomb the teacher is kicking the ball and trying to aim at the teacher's and coach.

 

I enjoyed learning the skills.    

 

 

Prototec

I went on Prototec, stage 5.

it was fun and hard.

I need to get better at my additon facts up to 10.

 

Print Design Rules.

I learned about the Print Design Rules.

First Mr Wong taught us about main aspect of the Print Design Rules, colour, layout, text, composition.

Next, I figured out which posters were good and bad with my partners.

Last I reorganized a poster to made it look good.

it was easy to do.   

HandWriting

I watched a video to show neat handwriting.

I wrote the characters neatly into my writing book.

I learned how to write the alphabet, numbers, and symbols properly.

I need to write my alphabets straighter.

LS1s's Treaty

 We learnt about the 3 ps the treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning.

First Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 ps in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership and participation.

Then in group we wrote statement about the 3 ps in Ls1.

Ls1 figured  out the 3 ps are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these statements because they will help me be successful. I will work on this by looking out for my friends at school. 

SSR Selfie -Queen Victoria

 I read 20 pages of Queen Victoria by Terry Deary.

Queen Victoria and she lived in London she was alive in the 1819.

She also lived in a kingdom.

I like the story because its fun and it is helps me learn more about Queen Victoria.

Judy Moody

 I read 18 pages of  Judy Moody by Peter H. Reynolds.

Judy moody was writing a story about Nancy Drew then she started the hunt. 

I liked the book because the events are enjoyable. 

Basic Facts Sheets

 I started by finding number bonds, and doubles, using uni link cubes.

Then I Created a chart using google sheet.

While finding out some basic facts using uni link cubes. Then I recorded the Basic Facts on the chart.

Lastly  I created a chart by using spreadsheet and short cuts like copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) and selection dragging to quickly fill in the repeated information.

It was fun because it helped me learn more about basic facts.
